Makepeace Sitlhou is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, writer, and documentary producer. A former Fulbright fellow at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, she has reported widely from India’s Northeast and across the U.S., Myanmar, Thailand, Taiwan, and Australia. Her investigations and features have appeared in Foreign Policy, In These Times, Vox, Vogue Business, BBC, Vice, Al Jazeera, CNN, The Daily Beast, among others.

We are a female-led media agency composed of experienced freelance journalists across the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. We specialise in producing investigative journalism, documentaries, and long-form stories that center underreported regions and communities—especially those historically overlooked by mainstream media. We also conduct trainings in news verification as well as digital security and data protection.
Our team works remotely, with reporters based in India, Myanmar, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and the broader Southeast Asian region. Many of us are indigenous or tribal journalists rooted in the regions we cover, bringing local knowledge, language skills, and lived context to every story.
Our team doesn’t just edit for cultural nuance—we own the stories. We believe marginalized and borderland communities deserve to tell their own histories, not just be quoted in them. Our goal is to challenge extractive journalism and build a media ecosystem that is led by, not just about, the communities it serves.
We are already producing award-winning work—but we want to build a future where our journalism is not dependent on intermittent grants and fellowships. Our stories should appear weekly, monthly, and quarterly in global and regional newsrooms.
